Anastasia Beverly Hills Dewy Set | Setting Spray Review

Yep, I broke my spending ban AGAIN. Woops.

‘But was it worth it?’, I hear you ask.

If you want to know my thoughts on the Anastasia Dewy Set Setting Spray, just keep reading 😊
The obvious place to start really! And honestly, if you have seen my Insta feed you’ll know my thoughts on this already.

I mean I love all of Anastasia’s packing; I also love sparkly things. So I guess it comes as no surprise when I say I LOVE this!!!

Don’t be deceived though – the gold sparkly bottle is in fact the packaging, not the spray itself!!

So, here are my personal Pros:
  • It absolutely sets my make-up in place. The minute its on my face, my make up is set down, all in place, beautifully melted together.
  • Whenever I use a setting spray, I quickly go over it with a beauty sponge to help melt the makeup and setting spray together. When I do that with this, it literally looks like a dewy, radiant, glow angel has waved her magic wand over my face. Actual dewy perfection.
  • It literally does what it says on the tin (well, bottle).
  • Great for dry skin… It actually feels refreshing and hydrating.
  • It never picks up make up when I dab the setting spray into my face with a sponge. I’ve used a couple of others before that do and it is so frustrating!

My only niggle is that it doesn’t last all day, well at least on my face. I would say my makeup stays put for around 8 hours before I start noticing it looking less-than-perfect. By that I mean, things like makeup rubbing off, creasing in fine lines, the corners of my nose not looking good, separating etc. Not to say that all of that happens, I just mean that is the sort of imperfection I’ve observed after 8hrs... In comparison to the Urban Decay All-Nighter for example, when I’ve never noticed those things.

I am a face-toucher though!! 🙈

I personally love it. It’s a coconut-vanilla scent, but not overpowering. It’s not like having a massive coconut or vanilla beam slap you square in the face when you spray it – it’s just refreshing and sweet.

A slightly odd choice for a facial spray – in my mind a fresh/clean/fruity scent would have been the logical choice – but I’m not mad at it.

The sprayer to be honest is probably the only thing I’m not 100% about. It’s not ‘misty’ enough for me. You might find it’s the perfect balance between powerful and misty but, for me, it sprays ever so slightly too big droplets.

Some setting sprays do not require dabbing over with a beauty sponge after spraying, and I love those. The ones that just spray on, melt your makeup in, and dry. Perfect! But sadly this isn’t one of those.

I mean, it’s not a huge deal, I just hold the bottle a little bit further away from my face than I would with another, mistier sprayer.

You just have to be a little wary of not spraying too close to you, and soaking your freshly made up face….

This spray is £27 for 100ml. Here are some comparisons:
  • Skindinavia – 118ml bottle is £24
  • Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day – 100ml bottle is £16
  • Makeup Revolution ‘Glow Revolution’ – 200ml bottle is £10
  • Morphe Continuous Setting Mist – 82.8ml bottle is £15
  • Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist – 80ml bottle is £16

So yeah, it’s pricey.

Having said that, I’ve been using this spray every day, pretty generously, for about 2 weeks, and there is maybe half a centimetre of product that has gone from the bottle. So it’s not like I’m going to use it up any time soon.

To me, it looks like this is a good quality, VERY aesthetic, long lasting product. So I’m a fan.

If I’m being absolutely honest though, I probably won’t buy it again when this runs out.

BUT that’s not because I don’t rate it. It’s just because I envisage a lot of new setting spray releases between now and the time that this runs out, plus there are already others that I would like to try out.

So… I’m glad I bought it, I do love it, I'm not fussed that it’s a little pricey, would recommend you giving it a go if you’re on the fence… But no I probably won’t re-buy.
